Chevy Volt in China!

In the United States, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will cost you a minimum of $40,280.  China hopes to keep the price of the Volt competitive in their market to increase sales and popularity.  Some things about the Volt that consumers and auto experts hope to see quick improvement on, especially when you consider the price, are: overall size, the fact that there are only four seat belts when several small cars have five, and the backseat being rather uncomfortable and unaccommodating.  Besides that, being able to drive 300 miles on a single charge is quite impressive.

Smart ForTwo Sales are Down!

When you think of a green automobile, chances are you think of a small Toyota rather than a vehicle from Dodge Jeep Dealer Connecticut.  One of the original icon green cars to be released stateside is having problems keeping up its annual sales; the Smart For Two is continually having decreasing sales.  The main reason sales are down is that there are so many hybrids on the market and people typically need more than two seats.  Think of the little sports car from Birmingham Nissan Dealers; we would be willing to bet that the sales of the less versatile vehicle don't compare to their popular Altima model. 

So what exactly are the numbers for the Smart For Two sales in the United States?  Well, they don't compare to the success of the sporty engine line up at Sarasota Mazda Dealer!  In 2008, there were 25,000 units of the small car sold in the United States, and it is expected that sales for 2010 will only be about one third of that!  On the global market, there were 114,000 sold in 2009 but it is only anticipated that 100,000 or so will sell this year!  As the popularity and variety of small efficient cars increases, the limited variety that Smart offers its consumers is hurting its sales.  There has been no innovation recently and the car is still only offered as a coupe or cabrio model. 

Summer sales have not done well stateside either.  Compared to July 2009, sales are down by 60.5%, or 560 units.  Looking at global sales for July, there is only a decrease of 20%, meaning that the bulk of the failing sales are coming from the United States.  Daimler has announced that a newly redesigned Smart For Two will be released during the third quarter, and that that is anticipated to increase sales.  If not, though, there is already talk of reviving the Smart For Four.  The car went out of production in 2006, but if sales don't pick up, we will see them on the market again in 2013.

Chevy Orlando: Microvan European Style!

Even though the exact numbers for fuel efficiency haven't been released yet, it is too great of news that the Chevy Orlando concept car is actually in production and will be available in European markets in early 2011.  While there are spy cameras leaking pictures of the new microvan, a few details have been released.  First off, the car is only slightly longer than the Chevy Cruze by about three inches, but still much smaller than the Chevy Silverado.  Secondly, the car will likely not be available at San Diego Toyota or any other U.S. dealership as the car is set to be sold in Europe, Asia, and Canada.  Maybe some Americans that live in the northern United States will sneak a peek at some of the ones that Canadians have purchased and occasionally drive down to the states. 

The line up at Alberta Mazda Dealers offer some great choices, and even the Mazda5 resembles the Chevy Orlando.  We first saw this concept car in the making back in 2008 at the Paris Auto Show.  There are some rumors that we will see this car in the United States, but that is only likely if gas prices go back above $4 per gallon.  Right now, the Equinox and Traverse are meeting the needs of the minivan market in America and also giving drivers the fuel efficiency they crave.  There will be two models of the Orlando available: the 1.8 liter four cylinder regular gas engine with 141 horsepower or the diesel 2.0 liter engine with 131 or 163 horsepower. 

The Orlando offers a long list of unique features that will make drivers love driving this car.  There is the ability to seat seven passengers in three rows of seating, and the second and third rows are elevated in theater style so everyone can see clearly out the front window.  Chevrolet even made a special holder for your MP3 player that will charge it while you are listening to it.  All trim levels come standard with air conditioning and electronic stability control.

Honda Fit Hybrid Review;

The Honda Fit which will be released soon is Honda's latest subcompact hybrid vehicle. This model may not be available in the United States, although there is no official word one way or another. Chevrolet models can be purchased from New Orleans Chevrolet Dealers throughout the country that are fuel efficient, and the Chevy Volt extended range electric vehicle will also be available at Chevy dealerships soon. Many automakers are looking to release hybrid vehicles, and Europe is experimenting with putting diesel engines on small vehicles to improve fuel efficiency. Port Charlotte Used Cars dealers also sell several vehicle models that are fuel efficient and well built.

The Ford Fusion hybrid is one of the first popular American hybrid models, and this vehicle can be found at Memphis Ford Dealers. The Honda Fit will definitely be released in Europe. The model will feature 87 hp with a 1.3 liter gasoline engine combined with an electric engine, and it will feature the latest hybrid engine technology from Honda. Honda is adding hybrid engines more to its smaller vehicle models for the optimal fuel efficiency. Other competitors put hybrid engines in larger vehicles in order to greatly increase their fuel efficiency. Toyota is another automaker that has a small vehicle, the Prius, that gets excellent fuel economy.

The Fit Hybrid will debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show and it will have similarities to the Honda Insight Hybrid especially its hybrid drive system. Performance figures were expected to be anywhere from 60 to 65 mpg for the vehicle's fuel economy with CO2 emissions being around 100g/km. The efficiency for this model would be greater than many other hybrid models, and it would force rivals to improve their own hybrid technology. The current Honda Fit non-hybrid vehicle starts at $14,900, and the hybrid system will be expected to add an additional $2,000 to $2,500 to the price of the model.

The popular hybrid may still be the Prius from Toyota Los Angeles, but American auto makers are stepping up their hybrid game.  While Ford may have offered other hybrid models in past years, currently there are hybrid versions of the Ford Fusion and the Ford Escape.  With a starting price of only $28,100, the Fusion Hybrid offers drivers great fuel economy in an attractive vehicles.  The Ford Escape starts out at $29,865 and is still SUV capable.  Lincoln is offering the 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid at the same price as the regular gasoline engine model.  So for only $34,330 drivers will have luxury and 41 mpg city!  Mercury offers their Milan and Mariner in hybrid versions as well as regular engine options.  That is impressive for a company with only four vehicles in their entire line up!

General Motors offers a wide array of hybrid options to choose from.  There is the Cadillac Escalade, but the starting price of $73,425 makes this hard for many people to afford.  The Chevy Tahoe Hybrid is a bit more affordable, with a starting price of $50,720.  GM is proud to have the two hybrid full size truck models in their inventory.  The GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado are both available in a hybrid form, while their full size truck cousins from other companies have yet to follow suit.  GMC has their full size SUV in hybrid form; the Yukon and Yukon Denali both have hybrid counterparts.  Keep in mind when you are looking at the larger hybrid vehicles that the fuel mileage won't be drastically improved like you see with the smaller cars.

World's First Diesel Hybrid SUV!

The world's first diesel hybrid SUV has been revealed. The Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 is the latest new vehicle design for SUV models. The model is sold by the French automaker Peugeot and it is now being shown at auto shows throughout the country. Sarasota Used Cars also sells several hybrid and fuel efficient vehicle models. The latest vehicle design has optimal fuel efficiencies and an excellent build quality. The Chevy Volt is another new hybrid model that is coming out and it will be found at dealerships such as Orlando Chevrolet Dealers.

The SUV will not be sold in the United States, but it might be an initiative for a trend of diesel automobiles to enter U.S. markets where they have not been very popular. The crossover vehicle will be capable of 68 mpg which is one of the highest fuel efficiencies out of all the vehicles in the world. The all wheel drive vehicle only emits 99 grams per kilometer of CO2. This vehicle is a 163 horsepower 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine with a manual transmission that is electronically controlled. The engine switches off every time the vehicle is stopped as many other hybrids do.

Diesel hybrids have not been as popular as gasoline hybrids because they develop their higher torques at lower engine speeds. Also, diesel engines are more efficient than gasoline engines already, and it is more difficult to improve efficiency with diesel models than with gasoline models. Diesel engines convert 35 percent of their energy to torque, whereas gasoline engines convert only 25 percent of their energy to torque. As a result, the designers of diesel hybrids have a long way to go to improve the models, but the French automaker of Peugeot did.
